Super-Secret Volumetric Video Menagerie. Donut share.
BACKGROUND: THe basic idea is simple: Video is composed of a large number of individual frames, each with X and Y dimensions. Just stack each frame on top of the next and you've got a Z dimension to place into a volume renderer.
Traditionally used to display things like MRI's and CT scans, we're going to abuse the technology a bit in the name of art :-)
The original video can be acquired here.
Our basic cube (more rectangular, but heh) looks like this:

Note the strange patterns across the top.
Lets slice into the cube by adding a clipping plane:
The clipping plane is pretty flexible, and shows off how we can slice across time pretty effectively.
Now, lets have some fun! Lets make the cube transparent. These are the
Phoenix Photos -- they integrate all the flame across the entire timeline
into one image. Cool :-)
Video of the above, animating in realtime, can be acquired here.
Video of the first "Bullet time sequence" from the Matrix:
Video of Winamp's Advanced Visualization Studio being used as a stress
tester for the volumizer...
This is all really experimental stuff, so bear with me :-)
